In recent years, online poker gambling has become one of the hottest forms of entertainment on the internet. It is a game that is enjoyed by literally millions of players around the globe and is played off a multitude of platforms in all forms • ranging from simple games against the house to intensive multiplayer tournaments with million dollar cash prizes. In recent months, however, online poker has been faced with real challenges, thanks to the new anti-internet laws passed in the United States, known as the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
When the United States Senate enacted this law, many online poker gambling sites were faced with the tough decision of whether to stay put and defy the new law or to close their doors to US players and seek out other markets to fill their customer bases. Those companies that were publicly listed had no choice but to take the latter option, however many sites did decide to stay, arguing that poker is a game of skill more than a form of gambling and therefore should not be incorporated into this new law.
Online poker gambling is still popular in different countries around the world. One of the advantages of playing online games is that you can enjoy them form the comfort of your own home without having to drive to the nearest casino. Online poker gambling is not new, but its popularity remains steady as more and more people play each day.
